New John Lewis &Beauty Nail & Brow Bar, Oxford

This week is a very exciting one for all of us in Oxford, it has been a long time coming and finally, after two years of building work and waiting, our new Westgate shopping centre is complete and open to the public. The new centre has become home to a mighty John Lewis store, which is a first for us in Oxford and as you can imagine, myself and a lot of others are very excited about having such a fantastic store on home soil. You can take a virtual tour around the new store by watching this short video John Lewis have created.
The John Lewis Oxford store features a new experience, the &Beauty Nail & Brow Bar. This is one of few John Lewis stores in which you can grab yourself a new set of nails, eyelash extensions or a quick eyebrow shape whilst you are on your shopping trip. I was very lucky to be invited along to experience the new service on opening day and I thought I would share with you my thoughts.

The bar itself is beautifully designed and furnished, I love the soft shades of pink and grey which co-incide nicely with the therapists uniform, it all feels very modern and clean. I was treated to a glass of Prosecco and a gel manicure which although I've had before, I haven't tried the particular brands on offer. I chose a really pretty pink shade which looks gorgeous on my nails and will hopefully last me a good two weeks. Although I was having my nails done in the middle of a shopping centre, I felt relaxed, at ease and comfortable, which was also helped by the lovely team of beauty experts. The brands used at the nail bar are OPI and Pinks Boutique, the founder of which, was actually at the bar on the day and was able to tell me lots of information about her beautifully designed, organic brand. Pinks Boutique use all natural ingredients such as orange, almond and sesame to provide the most natural results for the client, its really nice to know your skin is being treated with such care. I was also given a great aftercare leaflet which has encouraged me to check all of the beauty products I currently use and switch them out for natural alternatives.
I suffer from a lot of allergies including nuts and stoned fruits so I was a little concerned about having a treatment at first as a lot of products can irritate my skin. I filled out a consultation card on my arrival and thankfully, the beauty team were extremely knowledgeable about the products being used and were able to recommend the right ones for me, this made me feel at ease and allowed me to thoroughly enjoy my experience. It's great to know that there is something suitable for everyone at the nail bar which I really like, allowing every person to have the same high-quality experience.

The Pinks Boutique products smelt amazing and I really love the processes the brand use to adapt their treatments into something totally new and unique. My favourite part of the treatment was resting my hands on hot stones whilst my nails were painted, it felt so warm and comforting. There was also a wide selection of OPI colours to choose from, I was offered an alternative shade on my ring finger or a glitter top coat. All in all this made the experience very personalised. The gel manicure retails at £30.00 and takes 45 minutes or you can opt for a simple 20 minute manicure for £25.00, it really depends on what you are hoping to get out of your treatment. The nail bar also offers luxury manicures, manicures for men and hand, arm and shoulder massages. I'm very impressed with the results of my visit to the nail bar and I would definitely return again in the future.
If you are local to Oxford or find yourself taking a trip to the city, I would highly recommend stopping by the John Lewis store to pamper yourself. It's a great way to unwind during a busy day and the beauty team are guaranteed to make you feel welcome and comfortable.
